BOARD OF DIRECTORS, STAFF, & INTERNS

New Dramatists’ 30-member Board of Directors, many of whom have served the organization for over two decades, set the standard for our unwavering dedication to playwrights. The Board has carefully cultivated leadership within its ranks, and it has been led by the team of David Rozensweig and Abbie Van Nostrand since September, 2016.

Our exceptional full-time staff of 8 arts professionals, with support from part-time employees and leadership by the duo of Artistic Director, Emily Morse, and Executive Director, Joel Ruark, produce an artistic season that suggests a team many times their size.

The Bernard B. Jacobs Internship Program provides an entrée into the theatre world for hundreds of remarkable young artists and arts professionals – a number of whom eventually become New Dramatists playwright fellows, resident writers, or New Dramatists staff members themselves.

Staff Transitions

Midway through the season, in January 2018, New Dramatists added two new members to our permanent staff. Sofie Wasserman-Smith, full-time Development Manager, and Candis C. Jones, part-time Playwrights’ Lab Manager, now support our fundraising efforts and artistic programming, respectively. The creation of these two positions was precipitated by the departure of Morgan Allen, Director of Finance and New Media, over the summer. The season began seamlessly due to an elegant re-structuring by current staff: Christie Brown has taken over Morgan's responsibilities as Finance Director and added HR; Tiffany Baran assumed Christie's previous role as the Development Director; and Connie Hall, Artistic Programs Producer, now manages web-based communications.
